Drive Renamer privacy policy

Last updated October 24, 2026.

Drive Renamer is a Chrome extension that shows you a new filename before it changes, then renames the Google Drive files you confirm.

What stays on your computer

The extension saves your rename settings, your undo history, and an optional API key on your device with Chrome’s local storage. Drive Renamer does not run a server, and it does not sell this information.

What can be sent to another company

Clean, Add date, Number, and Replace keep file names on your computer. They are not sent anywhere.

If you run Smart rename and you have entered your own API key, the extension sends the selected file names, short text snippets, and dates to the provider you chose, Google Gemini or OpenAI, so that provider can suggest new names. Your API key is sent only to that provider to authorize the request.

Google Drive

The extension reads the names of files you select on drive.google.com so it can show a preview and apply the rename you confirm. It does not ask for your Google password.

Data the extension does not collect

Drive Renamer does not collect your name, health information, payment information, location, browsing history, or advertising data.

How to delete it

Remove Drive Renamer from Chrome to delete the saved settings, undo history, and API key from that browser profile.
